EEEGR is championing the voice for energy in the East of England. EEEGR is a not-for-profit, business led, business driven membership organisation, with an elected board, providing a platform for companies in the energy industry and its associated supply chain to work together to stimulate economic growth and ensure that energy in it’s broadest sense, not only survives but thrives in the East of England. It represents every aspect of the energy industry from the traditional offshore oil and gas companies to those involved in developing renewable energy products, throughout the East of England (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire).
The clustering of firms related to an industry in a geographical region is a well observed phenomenon. Research has highlighted the fact that business development is often strongest when firms cluster together, creating a critical mass of growth, collaboration, competition and opportunities for investment and knowledge sharing.
Mapergy was developed to graphically show these clusters online and develop data manipulation tools to enable users to find the right information. For EEEGR, it is about developing a sustainable future for the region's energy industry. However, the demand for technologies for knowledge, delivered through vehicles such as Mapergy is far greater and we look forward to developing Mapergy as the demand for greater knowledge develops.
